Let’s help you manage your falls…
(The following was written by Diana Bamala for Wellness Plus)
Starting again after experiencing an epic fall can be challenging, but it is a testament to your resilience and determination.
Sometimes we are not able to become what we dreamt of, especially if you are in Zimbabwe with the socioeconomic standing it is difficult to stand. Majority of us are just moving with the flow trying to have something on the table.
I recently shared a question on “if you satisfied with your job” amongst my network and sadly majority are just doing something to keep them afloat.
We have fallen so many times that all we need sometimes is to stay afloat, some have given up.
Majority do not know what to do next.
We in September you don’t need to be in January to start picking you up.
Anytime is still fine.
All am saying is no matter what, you can start again.
You have fallen a thousand times start again.
I have been there depressed and given up but I learnt something and here are some steps you can take to begin anew:
Accept and process your emotions: It’s important to acknowledge and process the emotions that arise from your fall. Allow yourself to feel sadness, disappointment, or frustration, but also remind yourself that it’s a natural part of the journey towards success.
Learn from the experience: Reflect on what led to the epic fall and identify any lessons or insights gained. This self-reflection can help you understand what went wrong and how you can avoid similar pitfalls in the future.
Set new goals: Take the time to reassess your goals and aspirations. Define what you want to achieve and determine the steps you need to take to get there. Setting fresh goals can provide you with a sense of purpose and direction as you start again.
Create a plan of action: Break down your new goals into smaller, achievable tasks. Develop a detailed plan that outlines the steps you will take to reach your objectives. This plan will give you a roadmap and provide structure as you move forward.
Seek support: Reach out to your support network, including friends, family, or mentors, who can offer encouragement and guidance. Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive individuals can make the journey less daunting and help you regain your confidence.
Build on your strengths: Identify your strengths and leverage them as you start again. Recognize the skills and qualities that contribute to your success and find ways to utilize them in your new endeavors.
Embrace a growth mindset: Adopting a growth mindset means viewing challenges and setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning. Embrace the belief that you have the capacity to improve and develop your abilities over time.
Take small steps forward: As you begin again, it’s important to take small, manageable steps towards your goals. Celebrate each milestone and use them as motivation to keep moving forward.
Practice self-care: During this transition, prioritize self-care to ensure you maintain physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Engage in activities that bring you joy, practice self-compassion, and take time to recharge.
Stay positive and persevere: Remember that setbacks and failures are a natural part of life. Stay positive, learn from your experiences, and persevere in the face of adversity. Trust in your abilities and believe in your capacity to bounce back and achieve success.
